Hitachi Seaside Park

Hitachi Seaside Park is a sizable park close to Mito in Ibaraki Prefecture with a number of green areas and seasonal flowers dispersed over 350 hectares, as well as an amusement park and a number of cycling and walking pathways. The blue nemophila, which replicates the hue of the sky and blankets Miharashi Hill in the spring, is the park's signature flower. From late April until mid-May, the blooms are typically at their most vibrant. Views of the Pacific Ocean and the rest of the park are offered by paths that wind through the hill. The hill is covered in green kokia shrubs in the fall, but as the weather cools off, they gradually become red. Early to mid October is usually when these autumnal hues are at their peak.

We took the expressway for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to get from Joso-shi in Ibaraki to Hitachi Seaside Park. I must tell you that Kokia season is when this park is really crowded. It was still popular even though we came here during the Covid-19 pandemic. Probably you won't be able to prevent folks from admiring these red and fluffy kokias for what they are. Since the park is quite huge, you should expect a long walk to get to this spot, but it depends on where you enter. Rental bicycles and a ride on the miniature train are also available. There are several additional attractions nearby the park, including the Pleasure Garden, which features a huge Ferris wheel, rides for both adults and children, and additional entertaining games and activities. So when you go to the park, make sure you are very energetic.

Narcissus, tulips, and nemophila (baby blue eyes) are all quite popular in the spring. Poppies and roses bloom in the early summer, and zinnias and sunflowers bloom in the summer. Kochia (summer cypress) and cosmos blossoms are beautiful in the autumn. Ice tulips can be observed in the winter, providing a rich complement of flora all year long. One of the more than 25 rides and attractions at the Pleasure Garden is a Ferris Wheel that stands 100 meters above sea level and offers breathtaking views. The cycling course, barbecue area, and athletic fields at Rinkan are other locations where you can appreciate nature.

Our Final Take

This is the greatest location for you if you enjoy entertainment, flowers, and the outdoors. When you are in the neighborhood of Ibaraki, you must visit this location because of the breathtaking vistas, wonderful flowers, picturesque landscapes, and limitless fun at the Pleasure Garden area. Because of the happiness it makes me feel, I personally like this site. The main drawback of this park is that it can get extremely busy at times due to seasonal events. During the busiest season, there is a long line using a private vehicle to enter the park. To find a parking spot, we waited for about one and a half hours. But the anticipation grows as you wait longer.
