Nikko Kirifuri Highland - Tokorono, Nikko, Tochigi 321-1421 Japan

Kirifuri Highland, a plateau on the slope of Mt. Akanagi, is located 1,200 meters above sea level to the north of the city of Nikko. From the end of June through the middle of July, the plateau is covered in yellow Nikko lilies. In the summer, visitors can go hiking, and in the winter, they can go skiing.

At an elevation of between 1,300 m and 1,600 m, Kisuge-daira is a highland about 8 km north of Nikko City that is home to a variety of blooms from spring through early summer and early autumn. The broad dwarf day lily (nikko kisuge) blooms in a great number, turning the entire field a brilliant shade of yellow from late June to mid-July. You may command a panoramic view of the Kanto Plain, Mount Fuji, Tokyo Skytree, and, on a clear day, the Pacific Ocean from Komaruyama Lookout, which is accessible after ascending the 1,445-step staircase known as Tenku Kairo (corridor in the sky).

During winter, hiking is also possible. You can bring your own snow shoes or you can rent here for free. Yes! FREE! Also the admission is free. We believed it would be simpler to ascend using the 1,445-step staircase, so we do so. Since we haven't climbed in a long, it was harder than we anticipated.

Our Final Take

It is a good spot for hiking lovers. Beginner or Advanced hikers will enjoy this location. From summer to winter season, this place is still the best. The scenery is worth a hike. I love this place and I highly recommend you visit this place someday.
